Irish photographers made their mark in 2026
Irish photographers had plenty to celebrate last year, with three finalist images recognised across multiple categories.
Al Higgins took second place in World of Drinks with Whiskey Soda, The Sackville, his stylish 1950s inspired capture from the opening night of The Sackville cocktail bar in Dublin. Julia Dunin was Highly Commended in unearthed® Food for Sale, while Kirsty Lyons was Highly Commended in Fortnum & Mason Food at the Table for her image of Irish oysters and a creamy pint at The Pumphouse in rural Wicklow.

Now in its 16th year, the competition celebrates food stories from around the world. With more than 25 categories, from Bring Home the Harvest and Food for Sale to Food Portraiture and World of Drinks, there are plenty of opportunities to find the right place for your work.
The Bimi® Prize also returns for 2027, recognising one standout shortlisted image featuring fresh fruit or vegetables. The winner will receive dinner for two at a Michelin starred restaurant, plus travel.
New for 2027: Feast of Flowers
There’s something new to get creative with this year. To coincide with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the Awards are introducing Feast of Flowers, a special one year category celebrating the relationship between food and flowers.
From flourishing kitchen gardens and floral still lifes to edible petals, decorated cakes and fields where crops and flowers grow side by side, there’s plenty of inspiration to explore.
Making the finals brings plenty to celebrate too. All finalist images will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, with a hand picked selection also displayed at Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly. Every finalist will also be invited to the VIP Awards Evening on 18 May 2027.
The 2027 global judging panel is chaired by renowned food photographer David Loftus and includes Irish cook, author and TV host Donal Skehan, alongside leading figures from the worlds of food, photography and international organisations.
